چکیده

Background The association between specific HLA alleles and risk of severe cutaneous drug hypersensitivity reactions is increasingly recognised. Vancomycin mediated pseudo-allergic ‘red man syndrome’ is well recognised, yet urticaria/anaphylaxis is uncommon and some clinical reactions are delayed. Although this may suggest the presence of vancomycin initiated T cell responses, no predisposing vancomycin HLA association has been identified. Therefore we set out to examine the role of T cell responses in vancomycin hypersensitivity reactions.

T Helper 2 Cytokine Analysis of Bronchoalveolar Lavage in the Murine Model of Allergic Broncho Pulmonary Aspergillosis

Background and Aims: Aspergillus fumigatus is a sporadic fungus that causes different infections and allergies in immunocompromised patients. The allergic disease caused by this fungus is called allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA). ABPA is considred important in atopic and immunocompromised individuals, which can result in inflammation and epithelial damage. Therefore, the aim of thi...

The Prevalence of Saffron Pollen Allergy in Saffron Workers of Khorasan (Iran) in 2002

Iran is the main producer of Saffron in the world and a great number of Khorasan (the largest province of Iran) are involved in growing this plant. Recently, saffron pollen has found great importance due to inducing allergic reactions. In this study, the prevalence and clinical symptoms of saffron pollen allergy and specific IgE level in saffron workers have been studied. For this purpose, 167 ...

Decreased serum level of lipoxin A4 (LXA4) may contribute to the pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis

Background: Rhinitis is a prevalent chronic inflammatory disease of the nasal mucosa. Arachidonic acid-derived lipoxin A4 (LXA4) has long been recognized to exert crucial anti-inflammatory and pro-resolving effects on inflammatory responses through a specific receptor named formyl peptide receptor-2 (FPR2). This study aimed to determine the serum level of LXA4 as well as the relative mRNA expre...

Recent Progress in Allergen Immunotherapy

The efficacy of allergen immunotherapy for the treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis with or without seasonal bronchial asthma and anaphylaxis caused by the sting of the hymenoptera class of insects has been clearly demonstrated in numerous well-designed, placebo-controlled trials. Immunotherapy whether by subcutaneous injection of allergen extract or by oral/sublingual routes modifies peri...

Assessment of Bet v 1-specific CD4+ T cell responses in allergic and nonallergic individuals using MHC class II peptide tetramers.

In this study, we used HLA-DRB1*0101, DRB1*0401, and DRB1*1501 peptide tetramers combined with cytokine surface capture assays to characterize CD4(+) T cell responses against the immunodominant T cell epitope (peptide 141-155) from the major birch pollen allergen Bet v 1, in both healthy and allergic individuals. We could detect Bet v 1-specific T cells in the PBMC of 20 birch pollen allergic p...
